Libertà is a work by Libera Capezzone (born 1982), aka Libertà, the result of a journey that began in Livorno in 2010 and that seeks to represent – using canvas, polystyrene, paper, wood and plywood – the artist’s visions of an ideal city between sky and sea.
Libera was born in Empoli but has lived for many years in Livorno, whose charms and people have adopted and inspired her. She currently lives in Florence.
Libera has worked since the outset with Viola Barbara (born 1979), a writer and the painter’s alter ego. Viola composes visionary and poetic discourses which spill out of their captions and reciprocally assimilate the paintings in a narrative whole.
